The third in our triple-shot of shows this week features the talents of Foster's Branch. As one of the most musically diverse power trios and certainly one of the busiest bands in the Indianapolis Scene, they have been quietly assembling a rabid fan base in all corners of the metropolitan area for the last several years. Now, with the successful release of their first album, The Root of it All, they have all of the elements lined up to take their show to the next level.

From my own perspective, this was probably the easiest interview I've ever done. Long-time veterans of the industry, Kevin Rafferty, Shawn Rafferty, and Travis Beck are very relaxed and professional as performers, both on-stage and off, and talked at length about a variety of subjects with little or no prompting or corralling from me.

Links referenced during the show:

  • Foster's Branch can be found here: Website / MySpace.
  • Their debut CD, The Root of it All, is available from CD Baby, or you may download the tracks directly from iTunes, GarageBand.com, or SnoCap.
  • Interested parties can also check out their EPK at SonicBids.
  • Breaking with tradition slightly, this week's promo is not for a music podcast, but for a podcast novel that I recently got hooked on. 7th Son, by J.C. Hutchins, is an exciting ride of a story that I recommend for anyone who is a fan of action/thriller drama/adventures with an abundance of plot twists, cliffhanger endings, and just a splash of Sci Fi. Think of it as a cross between the TV shows 24 and The Twilight Zone, in audio format. (See my personal blog for a review of the story and recounting of my "virtual run in" with Mr. Hutchins.)
  • And finally, once again we put out the call for lovers and supporters of Internet radio to visit savenetradio.org and ask their congressmen to support bill HR2060 before the evil suits of the recording and copyright industry succeed in their devious plot to stamp out all non-corporate-terrestrial-radio broadcasts of music.
